Programs

Sports

The sports provision at TMC includes three levels of participation.

LEVEL ONE

INTERNAL SPORT PROGRAM

Our inclusive internal sport program that allows students to choose from a variety of sports. The sporting groups in Secondary School are arranged with mixed genders and age groups and the focus is on fun, fitness, skill development and game play.

In the Junior School the sporting provision is based in year groups and all students participate in a wide variety of sports.

HOUSE COMPETITION

We have a vibrant House Competition and have three major carnivals annually:

  • Swimming
  • Cross Country
  • Athletics

LEVEL TWO

Hinterland Independent Alliance SPORT

Beyond internal sport TMC participates in the Hinterland Independent Alliance (HIA) and over the course of the year we participate in sporting events against the Hills International College and The Kooralbyn International School.

LEVEL THREE

District, Regional and State Sport

We are also a member of the Hinterland District Sports Association, the South Coast Regional Sports Association, the Queensland School Sport Association and students can qualify for the School Sport Australia National Championships through the provisions we have at TMC.

Internal School Sport - Level 1

We encourage all students to play sport at TMC and in the Secondary School have major sports and minor sports that are conducted on Wednesday afternoon. During term four students are given the opportunity to go off site and participate in recreational sport. We use facilities on site and in the local area.

The sports choices change each term and students are able to select their preference.

House Sport Events

The School runs a variety of House Sports Carnivals each year. In term one students are able to participate in the Swimming Championships, in term two the Cross Country Championships and in term three the Athletics Championships. Ribbons are awarded at all carnivals for first, second and third place in each age group. At the conclusion of each carnival ‘Age Championships’ are awarded to the individuals that score the most points for their House. At the conclusion of each year the House Cup is awarded to the winning House. The ‘Melbourne Cup’ is contested by Kyle House, Nicholls House and Walton House.
